I have been with my bf for 6 months. i told him i think we should get enagaged, it feel right! He thinks it too! He said he is too scared!! So how should someone be with their signifcant other to get engaged?

I think you guys should continue on your lives until both of you are completly comfortable, dont rush into things because it could be the casue of a break up.

You didn't state how old you both are. The younger you are, the longer you should be with someone before you get engaged. The situation is different if you are 20, versus if you are 30. Assuming you are in your mid-20's or older, you should at least be together for a year. During this time, seriously consider each other's behaviors, habits, temperaments, values, morals, etc. Ask each other some very honest and personal questions to make sure you're both in agreement about your future, goals, plans, etc. When the time is right, neither of you will be scared, you'll be content and just know that getting engaged is the next logical step.

there isn't a set amount of time to wait before you get engaged. It is different for everyone. Some people say a year, some people say live together for a year... I say you should wait until you are both ready.
When the time is right, neither of you will be scared. You'll be excited, happy, and maybe a little nervous about what comes next, but you won't be scared.
Trust yourself, you'll know when it's right.

What is he afraid of? No more freedom? I think you need to speak to him seriously and both of you must understand that you need to be together as a team to solve problems later when it comes and agree to discuss anything under the sun.

6 months seems kind of early but you guys should move in together first and see if you can actually stand living together and if it does work out, then you guys should get married.
