I just found out that a friend of mine is going to walk out on there job tonight, and they asked me how they should do it, should they be meek and quiet and just walk off, or should they let everyone there know they are leaving and not coming back?

If it was me, I'd make sure evey one knew what, and who made this decision for me (IE bad boss, bad customers etc..) I know that only you can realy decide to leave your job, but there are a lot of outside factors that can make you lean one way or the other.

If the reasons are serious enough to just walk out then I would (and have) tell them exactly what I think. It probably won't change anything but you makes you feel a whole lot better.

I guess that maybe I'm just not one to rock the boat, but I always feel that it's wise not to burn your bridges if you can avoid it. You never know if there may have been a misunderstanding that's going to make you look or feel really dumb later on if you've made a big production. You also never know when you may need to use that source as a referrence later on, or run into someone from that place at another job. It just seems that it's a good idea to show class in a situation whenever possible.

I'll let every one know and before i walk out I'd get on top of my table and sing.... 'i will survive' facing my BOSS.

(this will happen only if i decide to leave. and the chances are very very LOW.

i love my JOB)

1) Write a note to my manager about what made me leave.

2) Put a copy on the general manager's desk.

3) Pee on it.

That's what I'd do. It'd rule.
