I know to take everything on the internet with a grain of salt, especially a test that instantly diagnoses you with SPD or various other problems. But it really irritated me that I scored so high on the test. So I tried it again on another site and same result. I know that schizoids/sociopath's are not supposed to care or whatever, and sadly I truly dont but something tends to hit you a little harder when there "appears" to be proof contrary to your own thoughts. I ran down the list of things they characterize schizoid's typically. And best I can tell they all seem to be dead on. It was actually very disconcerting. Oh and on the online scoring it said I was a 88% sociopath? Unsettling is the fact that the only reason I am thinking I might be is due to the fact that I am great with puzzles and with everything I have read these last few days I am fitting very well into this part of the puzzle.

Well, you hit that on the head, just as they profile schizoid personalities, I have no desire to seek help. This is partially due to the majority of what I read saying, "there is no known medication or treatment that can cure or even stabalize SPD". Due to this it seems kind of pointless. I am functional which I guess some of them are not. I run 2 stores have many people that I consider good friends, most of which take my advice very much to heart because unlike the normal schizoid would do I dont try to move people like pawns in my game but rather watch them and kind of give them a heads up of whats to come. I was more looking for the possibility of finding something that could make me feel/care about things more. But after i posted here i found everything tells me NOPE. Sucks pretty bad, but will live on just like I have always done....

Most characteristics in people's personalities are considered normal to some extent. It's when those characteristics are extreme and beyond what is considered within normal boundaries that they start calling it a personality disorder, such as schizoid personality disorder. When those characteristics are so extreme they usually have bad effects on the person's life, or in some cases bother the people around the person.

So for example it can be normal to enjoy solitary activities, but when you don't at all enjoy anything else than solitary activities it is considered strange and a possible symptom of a schizoid personality. Most people enjoy spending time with other people, but schizoids generally don't and prefer being alone as much as possible.

You said you read the list of symptoms. Well, read it over again with it in mind that those descriptions are meant as extremes that apply in almost all situations in the person's life. Something may seem to fit at first, but if you give it good thought you might see it differently.

Online diagnosis is never very accurate, so don't freak out yet. If this bothers you, see a professional to find out for sure whether this diagnosis is true or not.

Even if it is true, it's not like your life is over. If those symptoms haven't bothered you before there is no reason why they should start bothering you now. Actually the reason why most schizoid don't seek treatment is that they are usually not bothered by their disorder. Treatment is rarely necessary. The few schizoids who seek treatment are usually compelled to enter therapy because of some problem, such as addiction or their family freaking out about their extreme solitary attitude. Treatment is possible, to some extent, but it is rarely successful due to the schizoid's lack of interest in receiving treatment. Most schizoid quit the treatment soon because they don't feel like it's necessary to 'fix' them.

I am schizoid myself and I don't mind it, it's nothing horrible. I don't think you need to be worried, just go on with your life as before.

If you want to read more about schizoid personality disorder then http://www.ptypes.com/schizoidpd.html explains it pretty well. Maybe it will help you see better whether this description really fits you, but only a professional can confirm the diagnosis. Anyway, good luck!

When my tests are scored I come out looking like the female version of Al Capone. Get with a professional for a true assessment. They takes your history and do a lot of inventories with you. I am sorry that you score high on the tests. I hope you get to feeling better!!

~Maybe you are, check out the way you word "schiziod." You could care less.
Since you already know you can't diagnose yourself, seek professional help. If you have a family doctor, start there. You will need medication.
Good luck.~
