i didnt know that there was a draw between ireland and zimbabawe....interstingly many respondent also dont know the same....now you know what kind of teams and interest levels and audience awareness levels...ireland is a fluke team in second round......deserving pak is out....its quiet funny..icci rules are twisted and disasterous .....

Run rate would have come in if the points were somehow equal.
Latest standing is:
WI = 4 points
IL = 3 points
Pak = 2 points
Zim = 1 Point

So Windies and Ireland are thorough to Super 8s. Pakistan has to go home but don't worry something big is gonna happen now with Pakistan Cricket and it is going to be explosive for the rest of the world. We are gonna get the best team in the world, just wait for few months.

THERE IS NO WRONG IN ICCI RULE!!
in fact this is the best one, but this tournament demands consistency, if team like Pakistan dont have consistency they have to pay, lesser team can go up!!
there is nothing wrong, all games are important in this WC
so you should not take lightly the first round!!
before you can play worst and go to the next without problem,
in 1999 WI went second even though they lost to Kenya!!
in 2003 India too lost the first game but went to final only to be thrashed by Australia!!
so the winner of this cup will deserve the Cup it wont be a fluke win as India won in 83.

Hi,
Why don't you understand Ireland as 3 points (1 from a tie with Zimbabwe and 2 for a win with Pakistan).

Pakistan as 2 points only.

Zimbabwe as 1 point (a draw aganist Ireland).

Where does run rate come into play here?

There is no look back for run rate and all

top two teams will go to next round

WI already won pak and zim so they are with 4 points
Ire drew with zim and won against pak so they are with 3 points
Pak won against zim and with 2 points
Zim drew with ire and with 1 one points.

There is no twist in Icc rules as well there is no flook involed.
They deserved the victory against pak, they performed well except in batting.

Ireland played to their potential in two matches and got 3 points.
Though the exit of Pakistan is sad they,did not play to their potential on that day.
India too is almost in a similar situation.

Yes, it was expected even before that team was sent to WI , as everybody knew what horrible situation was going on with that cricket team in that country for a long time.

well pakistan is surely out of the world cup. wi is in . there will be a match between ireland and zim and i am sure that ireland will qualify[due to its performances and nrr(net run rate).]

so your answer is- ireland and wi into the finals.

how can pakistan go to super eight ireland have 3 points (they won from pakistan and one match was draw ) ,pakistan have 2 points(they won it yesterday) and zinbabwe have only 1 point
so ireland and wi are selected

Pak has lost first two matches and hence they are out of World Cup.

Pak lost the first two matches! so, no chance! Windies won two, they are in! The second team will be Zimb or Ire, we'll know soon!
