Probably the most important reason chicken soup makes you feel better is that it's hot. The steam rising toward your face helps to clear the nasal passages, acting as a natural decongestant.

Certain studies have theorized that the particular blend of nutrients in traditional chicken soup might slow down the activity of certain white blood cells, acting as a natural anti-inflammatory.

Chicken soup is also easy to keep down when you're not feeling well, and it's always good to get some food in your stomach when your body is fighting off germs.
