Artist or scientist, who is to be regarded more by society?

Scientists are regarded more by society because they bring about improvements to our understanding of life and how we live it. IE: Antibiotics, Microwave Ovens, etc. Artists contributions usually pertain to some form of entertainment.

although I think science is regarded more, scientists themselves are probably known only to each other. Artists, however, may find a better following in the general population when they're particularly unique.
