I'm neither Republican nor Democratic. I'd call myself "independent" but that seems to be coming close to being an actual political group.
I do tend more toward Democratic ideals than Republican but not too strongly.
I was invited by a client to a party to view the Out Foxed video when first released. I thought it to be every bit as biased and the editors every bit as manipulative in how they showed Fox. What I came away with from that "documentary" is that die-hard democrats are every bit as narrow-minded as and choose to see and hear only what they want to see and hear every bit as much as the die-hard Republicans.
I say this in hopes that I can express my bias and lack thereof reliably.
Comedy Central has John Stewart and Stephen Colbert. They're both hysterical and thought provoking even when they blast Democrats.
Are there similar Republican comedians? Could Republicans handle a satire of the Democratic party ala The Colbert Report even if it slung some shots at Republicans?

Colbert is actually playing a character that is parody of Bill O'Reilly. A lot of people didn't get that at first.

And despite their personal politics, Stewart and Colbert do a pretty good job of being non-partisan -- they bash anyone who is being stupid, regardless of what party they belong to.

I do wish more people would find the funny, and stop being so serious all the time. Humor is good for the soul.

P.J. O'Rourke can be pretty funny on the right, but after that the comedy is unintentional. The left definitely has the better comedians, as they always have.

I think this is because the conservatives are more doctrinaire. Since their creed is all about righteousness the cannot question it as freely as the liberals can theirs.

Given the actions of Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter, I think some conservatives are trying to be funny, but only come off as mean. I could be wrong, though, and they could actually be dead serious. Either way, they're still mean people.

Colbert's bit is easy to identify because its simple. Support the president, big business and God.
Democrats arent so easy to identify because their platforms like life are more complex.

Usually democrats are attacked for their personal moral indiscretions. Bill and Monica, Ted Kennedy's drinking etc.

FOX News has a show called "The 1/2 Hour News Hour" which is basically a conservative "Daily Show."
