Shouldn't he be upset about the failure of capitalism in Latin America? After all, his country has been shoving it down the natives throats for over a hundred years. He should be happy that they have finally found a path to development that will work.

No, John McBain from One Life To Live is a big Chavez fan.

fine bigbro, you can quote chapter and verse from your free market bible, or you can open your eyes and look at the history of Latin America. Capitalism has failed and is failing right now.

McCain, like all the conservatives, looks at corporate capital as more than an economic system. It is the one true faith.

McCain believes that what passes for a liberal in the US is too far left, so how could he even understand someone like Chavez or Castro? Like all the other Republicans, and far too many democrats, he feels that any economic system is successful only to the degree it is subjected to his own.

Corporate controlled Congresses and Administrations have consistently interfered with the internal affairs of our southern neighbours for more than a century. Their senatorial toadies are so far divorced from reality that they cannot understand the resentment and mistrust.

Since 1848 the US has treated Spanish Americans as exploitable, and violated their borders at will. We have owverthrown legally established governments without scruple, and without mercy.

If the McCain had any honour he would be apologising to Cubans for American support for Batista, to Chileans for the overthrow and murder of Salvador Allende, and to Venezuela for our attempts to dothe same to him. He will not, because he is not able to look at himself.

Once he was a white knight, but he has rolled around in the excrement so much that his armour has turned black. While he remains the best Republican chance at retaining the White House that is because the Republicans simply have nobody else influential enough to attract votes who has not been indicted for something.

Just as capitalism has problems, so does socialism. Even though I do commend some of the good works Chavez has done (Provide medical care, set food prices to keep grocers from profiteering, provide food subsidies, etc.) I am afraid he is a one trick pony. He is depending on oil for his money. Poor people love free stuff. We all do. However, when the gravy train runs out, what will he do? All of the middle class and upper class (the middle class provides techinical skills and the upper class provides industy and growth) are leaving venezuela in droves. That will hurt their economy. When we decide to stop being dependent on foreign oil, Venezuela will be swimming in the stuff. I hope Chavez for his peoples sake thinks this thing through. Again, I commend some of the things he has done, but he better think about the long term.

No he should be concerned about the spread of socialism.

First off capitalism failed in Latin America because of the vast corruption that pollutes every aspect of business and political life there(I know because that's why my family moved to America back in the 60's).

Socialism will not do better.

Socialism does not work, it stagnates the economy (see Europe), it is still depends on capitalist states for goods and products, and socialism requires equality which does not exist in Latin America.

you think socialism will change 500 years of native oppression? you think the already weak economies can now handle the extra civil burden of "caring" for all its people?

your the one who needs to do research.

there will still be corruption and oppression of the native peoples, the drug trade and drug money will still be the biggest source of income and the end result will be more countries begging at "evil" America's door step.

I still have family in Venezuela, I can assure you they are not happy, but they can not say anything for fear of retribution from the government... yeah that sounds like a great way to live, to truly be oppressed.

socialism is a failure... that's a fact. much like Communism.

Capitalism is far from perfect, but I would rather live in a country where I earn what I have and I am free to live, than to work my self to death and be taxed to death so others can survive by doing nothing to contribute.

we are too close to that system in the US as it is.

So socialism is the great cure all and capitalism is evil, again, long hair? Socialism has been proven not to work, communism is a bismal failure, capitalism only benefits those who have money. How about a system that everyone can live with. No I don't know what that is but I know it isnt socialism-take from the rich and give to the poor.

Capitalism works whenever it is tried. It only fails if or when socialism is added to it. Socialism fails whenever it is tried. It only half-way works if or when capitalism is added to it.

Capitalism is based on freedom and independence, Socialism is based upon slavery and dependency.

I think McCain is upset about socialism in Latin America because those poor people are always kept down under socialism. He is probably wishing that they had all the freedom and justice that we enjoy here in America.

Most of the Latin American countries obviously agree with McCain, because they have to live the reailty. How many Americans do you see fleeing to Latin America as illegal imigrants?

Honestly, can we spell p-r-o-p-a-g-a-n-d-a?

Just from the looks of the article, it was either a "look over here" ploy...or it was a campaign party. Mr.McCain was talking to a specific audience and was using this topic to influence their appeal for him. (makes me wanna yark, personally)...just look at the topic and who he was speaking to. Do a search on his previous socialist smashings...see if there are any...and if there is more information given by the writer about "why." Keep following it.

I wish that I had more time to research this topic and look at other writen material out there in the world (other than anything written by or affiliated in any way with Associated Press--not to knock AP (because I do like them)..but, just to get another perspective and possibly more of a real or more broad idea as to what is going on--you have to do that with any media, these days.).....

Have fun!

Mc Cain is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the corptocracy.

Some of you still don't know that ,socialism is not communism and communism is not socialism..England is a social democracy, as is Germany, and the dreaded French, Sweden, etc. I guess all those countries have failed economies according to ....Who? Germany paid for reunification very quickly, Sweden has kept a high living standard for many years as have most of Europe social democracy is working in almost every other industrialized nation. It has some flaws.... but we don't? all governmental systems are a work in progress.

So many confused conservatives on this board. They seem to believe a country can only be capitalist or socialist, no in between. The fact is that the U.S. itself is plenty more socialist then most third world countries.

If conservatives truly want to live in a capitalist country, they need to move to some primitive third world country where the government has absolutely nothing to do with the economy.

The link would not artwork, yet I analyze his "misspeak". that is attainable that he became certainly saying that he would not prefer to speak to the Spanish president because of the fact he would not agree together with his rules. For starters, the president pulled Spain's troops out of Iraq a pair of years in the past.
