James Earl Jones, Barry White, Ja Rule, Tone Loc, DMX, Issac Hayes, etc. the list could go on and on. The only White guy I can think of who has that type of voice is Tom Jones. and every one says he SOUNDS like a Black man. I'm sure there are more White men with this type of voice also, but it doesn't seem to be as common as with Blacks. Likewise I know there are some of Blacks with voices like Michael Jackson, but not many. Also, I have never ONCE heard an east Asian with a bass voice, why not?

Black people in the US do have a different voice than white people, it is social in nature. It is very recent too, and I can't figure out what is causing it. If you hear a black artist singing now odds are you will be able to tell by the sound of their voice they are black, but go listen to the music in the 60's produced in motown, their voices don't sound like that. If you talk to an older black northerner too they won't have this voice, i mean pretty old too. In the south they will have a southren accent, but not a "black" accent.
There is definately some weird trend in America that is causing a lot of black people to change their voice inflection.

There are hundreds of scientifically provable biological differences between the races. These include bone structure, skin thickness, hair texture, average intelligence, muscle structure, hormone levels, susceptibility to certain diseases, temperament, etc., just to name a few. The way the various races voices sound is also a biological difference. This is why you can usually tell the race of someone over the telephone, even if they are speaking without a noticeable dialect or accent.
I don't know what causes voices to be lower. Perhaps it is testosterone levels? Blacks, on average, have slightly higher testosterone levels than whites and significantly higher levels than asians. Perhaps this gives them lower voices on average, but I am just guessing.

Physically, it depends on the air capacity of a person's lungs etc, and the way he emits it. That's why Asians have less base voice. But there are many with base voice however. But your idea about black and white is not true in US

Are you talking voice tone or accent? Frankly, I do not know many black men with deep Barry White-like voices but I agree that there is a "black" urban accent in the US..

i never notice that but yeah im sure there are some white men with deep voices. i dont know why they have deep voices. lol now that think of it it's kind of funny. maybe it has something to do with genetics

size. blacks are generally bigger than whites. not usualy by much on average, but still bigger, such is also true of asians. even the yao ming's arn't as big as the shaq's, as far as neck size goes. culture may have some say, but i've never heard any research, but it may be in poorer comunities a deep voice means a strong man.. thus a deep voice is disired... similarly what i know is true is that in a small fish tank the fish will not grow as big as if the same fish were to be put in a pond. but fish are much simpler than people so i would say that the size is the most likely cause.

nnoying or what? When I have been away for a few days on business and drinking alot and so on, my mrs says your voice. so low and sexy. and me the average white bloke.
But what can you say about barry white? big, black, voice? only number one ! Nobody else will ever do that!

They don't. Your perception shows a large amount of cultural bias. This isn't a bad thing, unless you're claiming to have a comprehensive viewpoint on the matter.
Hint: Listing fewer than ten people of the top of your head is a very poor example of supporting evidence.

Blacks have bigger lings and a different airway.Orientals tend to have flat tongues that sink down.
