First, find the lowest common denominator (LCD)
5x3 = 15, so 15 is the lowest common denominator.
Next, rewrite the fraction to an equivalent with the LCD.
1/3 would have to be multplied by 5 to get a denominator of 15, and so you would multiply the fraction 1/3 x 5/5 (which is the same as multiplying it by 1).
You would get 5/15.
1/15 already has the 15 in the denominator and so you do not have to change it.
Now you can add the two fractions together.
5/15 + 1/15 = 6/15

You can't add 1/3 + 1/15 as it is so you have to make the bottom numbers agree. You divide the 3 into 15 which equals 5, so you now times that by the 1 which equals 5 so
1/3 = 5/15 Then you add 5/15 + 1/15 = 6/15
+1/15=1/15 To get the lowest simplest form you
divide both the top and the bottom by 3 Example. 6 divided by 3= 2/ ,15 divided by 3 equal /5 = 2/5

You need the same denominator (bottom) to do this.
1. First decide what is the lowest common denominator (in this case you can make them both out of 15).
2. Make them both have the same denominator.
1/3 x 5/5 = 5/15
This works because any number divided by itself is equal to 1, so 5/5 is the same as 1, and 1/3 x 1 still equals 1/3 = 5/15.
3. add them together
5/15 + 1/15 = 6/15

well first u find the least common denominator of 3 and 15 which is 15, so u multiply 1/3 by 5 and u will get 5/15. then u just add 5/15+1/15 and u will get 6/15 and that is the answer.

first you find the common denominator wich is 15 the you multiply 3 to the 1 and then you get 3 over 15 then you and 1 then you put that over 15 then you add and come up with the answer 6/15

u need to find the common denominators... which is 15.. then u have to write it out with the same denominators.. u leave the 1/15 the same because u ddnt have to change the denominator.. but the 1/3 u change the denominator to 15.. and u multiply 5 by 3 to get 15 so u multiply the 1 by 5 so u get 5/15+1/15 which equals 6/15.. i think!

1/3+1/15 find the common multiple which is 15.
so u have to change the 3 to a 15.
1/3*5/5 will give u 5/15.
now u could add it together easily.
5/15+1/15= 6/15(simplify)=3/5

1/3+1/15=X To find what X is equal to you must reformat the equation using a common denominator, in this case 15.
1/3 = (1x5) / (3x5) = 5/15
Now, replace the equivalent value you have for 1/3 in your original equation to solve for X.
5/15+1/15=6/15 (which can be reduced by a factor of 3)=2/5
