it is unlikely that your car is on its first belt. However, it may be on its second, in which case, you should still have it changed. It's expensive for a reason. It's a very difficult and involved job that would take one person several hours. Compare the $500 to the cost of replacing the engine, or entire vehicle because if that belt breaks, that's what you'll be looking at. Have the belt changed.

It's possible but questionable if the original belt is still in there. I would give the job to a shop. Also, check with the shop if it's a good idea to replace the water pump at the same time. On a lot of cars the water pump is driven by the timing belt and since you're gonna be uncovering the water pump to do the belt it makes sense to change the pump at the same time.

In 1995 Nissan went to chain driven camshafts on the VQ-30 motor. Most the time if there is no chain rattle it is maintence free, except for oil changes and air filters. Almost any Maxima will run 300,000 miles the motors are that good. 12 year old radatior and hoses need to be looked at for replacement. Don't overheat any motor and they will last a long time.

It is possible that it has the original timing belt, but highly unlikely. Enclosed is a link that shows step by step how to do it.
You would also be able to get to the point to check its condition and you can decide if it actually needs replacing. Is it cracked? Is the rubber worn or brittle? Are any of its teeth or grooves coming apart? Strands showing? Good luck!
Hope this helps you!

I recommend taking it to the shop. Timing belts will be difficult to change the first time around, unless you know what your doing. Timing belts usually should be changed every 100k miles! Good Luck!

yes it is possible especially when you have no oil leaks that will deteriorate the rubber itself or any dirt and contaminant that will spoil the surface and prematurely stretched it,,,,,,,,,,,,,
it is very difficult one especially when you have no proper know how to do the job properly and no proper tools to fixed it
if you do it wrong lets say the belt comes off fom the jokey pulley you have to repair your cylinder head along with the valves and possible you have to replaced your damaged piston and that one cost a fortune
hope it helps
