i am a noob, and i want to see if i have any natural talent. so i am looking for something to teach me the basics, that is free.

Unfortunately, most of the DVD and videos you'll have to pay for. http://www.ellusionist.com and http://www.penguinmagic.com are the two site I normally use for my magic gear.
