I'm pretty close to that point right now. I don't seem to have much luck dating and I am wondering if I should just give up on finding someone that loves me and that I love too. Maybe just having a companion is all that some people can hope for and that is good enough.

All during HS i was a cereal dater, very jaded. But in College i met this guy that i fell head over heels for and the feeling was mutual. But after a stupid argument we broke up and ordinarily I'd just find another guy, But for a nice chunk of time i swore off dating and pretty much decided that love wasn't worth it. During that time i pretty much just drank a lot and kinda didn't take care of myself. I lost 20lbs in 3 weeks and i was only 120lbs and 5 foot 5 at the time so it was very unhealthy. It wasn't till a few mts later that i realized this wasn't me, and went out and met the most amazing, sweetest guy ever.
It wasn't till i stopped looking that i found what I'd been looking for. And I'm getting married to that great guy in 5 mts now. And i couldn't be happier. So giving up on love actually made me find true love.

I gave up on Love 15 years ago.My boyfriend dumped me for someone else and it was really bad,and i don't want to go through that ever again.I was suicidal for a awhile, but i learned that killing myself was not a good idea. Some people will never have that special kind of Love, and some people will, that's how it is?

Yes. I was in a seriously bad relationship. It was awful so I gave up on love and got out alive. 8 years later I met my husband. Best chance I ever took.

I never gave up on it...I just acknowledged the fact that it was the wrong guy/place/time/situation/ etc... and tried again.
I am happily going on my 9th year of marriage and he's still the best friend and best lover I could ever hope for!

After my significant other of nearly 20 years committed suicide, I tried to get into the dating scene again. Its just not like it used to be. Where is passion? What happened to chivalry? When did guys stop thinking of females as intelligent independent women and not just objects of their sexual relief?
Its just futile to start over. If I find another Mr Right, fine. If I don't, thats fine too. Likely if I did stumble over him, I probably wouldn't bother to notice.

Not giving up...just taking a break from searching. Taking a break for a year to focus on me and my kids. If he should happen to come along and find me then cool! Otherwise I am not doing any chasing or anything like that.
