She might have a sinus or an inner ear infection. That can mess up the levels of fluid in your ears and make you very dizzy.

She might also have vertigo.

It could be stress induced. She should probably go to the doctors. She should know this being a dentist.

Do I remember that feeling... wow. I had literally the same symptoms and my doctor diagnosed me with vertigo. He put me on some pills, and slowly I got better. It was almost like I caught some virus. The pills helped! I did find though that the symptoms would show up again after a few weeks of what I thought was normal stable abilities in a vertical position. A question to ask her is if she also gets dizzy when she repositions herself in bed, such as turning over. Does she go for a ride then also? Definitely have her get to the doctor and have a check up. She obviously shouldn't be driving or operate any item that can hurt you... especially a stove. I hope she listens to you and she starts to take care of herself by getting to her family doctor. good luck!

It sounds like coming upright suddenly causes her dizziness. If this is so, she may be experiencing something called "orthostatic hypotension". This is her body not being able to adjust to a sudden drop in blood pressure because she moved from lying flat to getting upright. This can be a sign of anemia, or low blood volume.

Sometimes we lose blood and don't even notice, like in the case of bad hemorrhoids or a slowly bleeding gastric ulcer.

Another possibility is her heart is unable to adjust to the sudden demand of a changing posture.

And lastly, she could have some inner ear problems that affect her balance. In any case, she should see a doctor ASAP to run a few blood test. Do not let her delay getting treatment as something serious could be going on.

It's NOT normal and she does need to see a doctor. She's a dentist? The she really does know better. She knows stress does NOT make you dizzy and give you the spinning room feeling. She does know this.

It's vertigo. It's the worse thing to get! Are her ears okay? Slight ear infections can cause your body to go off balance and create vertigo as well.

Take your mom to the doctors.
