No one should be allowed to get away with racists remarks to anyone. No one should be allowed to have a "racist remark pass" black, white, or other. But I can see where you are coming from (and as you can see by my avatar, I'm not white). There are a number of black folks (not all black folks. I'm not lumping everyone into that category) who will dish out racist crap in a second and think nothing of it, but the minute it is redirected towards them, they are ready to call everyone and their mother to go an beat someone down. Is it right? Absolutely not, but by the same token, a black person (from what I've witnessed) will use a racist remark as almost a last resort, while a white person (from what I've witnessed. I don't want to lump all white folks in that category, because it's not fair) will be a whole lot quicker to pull a racist remark out of their arsenal when they get pissed off at a non-white.
I've seen the whole Michael Richards fiasco and I noticed several things:
1) He's not funny, he was way better as Kramer
2)The hecklers in the audience were a$$holes.
3)Michael Richards, if he was a good comedian, he would've been able to flip the script on the a$$holes in the audience without resorting to using the term n!gger. To automatically resort to using that word obviously shows he can't think on his feet, the mark of a great comedian. It also made me wonder if the hecklers were of any other ethnicity, would he have resorted to using racial slurs. As one of my favorite rap groups say in their song "Got it Twisted"-"That truth will come out when you are drunk".
4)The a$$holes in the audience, should've been kicked out for interrupting the show, that way things wouldn't have escalated to that point.
5)For them to retaliate by calling Kramer a c*acker, was crazy as well. One racist rant, doesn't deserve another. But playing devil's advocate, they brought it on themselves. If they would've kept thier mouths shut during the routine, things would've never gotten to that point.

It's been over 100 years since slavery. The black people of our generations have not suffered any hardships like that. . For example, I heard a black lady call a white lady a honkey the other day and everyone laughed but when she called her the n word back they screamed racism. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
I saw the tape where michael richards went off. He was WAY out of line. The only time I would ever be racial to someone else is if they were prejudiced to me.
I really think prejudice is black on white just as much as it is white on black. ANd also there is racism toward white people from other races too. It is NOT just racism from white people.
The world really needs to stop being racist. I think it's so stupid. It's only one gene in our body that decides what color our skin will be. We are all human beings same through and through. Who gives a crap what pigment our genes made our skin color be.
It shouldn't be about the color of the skin, it should be about the content of their character. I know the world will probably never be that way. But that is how I judge people. Treat me as I would want to be treated.

That old double standard. It is to the point where African Americans can push the envelope in any situation, further than a white person because if they are called on it, they start the racism song and dance. Black comics can make fun of white people but a white comic making fun of black people is considered racist.
Michael Richards definitely does not know how to act in public. He handled the situation poorly but, being black is not an excuse for anything as far as I know.

You're right! right! right!
Blacks should not get special treatment, and they do sometimes. But compare that to the "special treatment" they've been getting for the last few hundred years and somehow a heckle seems less than a hanging!
Racism is a colourless thing. It is not about skin, it is about fear and loathing. There are white racists and there are black racists, and the truth is they are all the same colour ... YELLOW!
You either understand how to be or you don't. You are either human, or you are something less.
You have every right and every duty to oppose racism against white people, to EXACTLY the same extent that you have to oppose racism to black people.

Racial remarks degrade everyone, those who give them and those on the receiving end. No one should have to deal with them regardless of race.

Because they think it's wrong because they just endured so much hardship. We shouldn't be making fun of them too. It's all a bunch of crap, I will talk crap right back if they wanna bring it. It's a gave and take relationship.
