Like you, I am fair skinned and bruise easily. This isn't a proven remedy, but it has worked for me, so use your own discretion....

If I bump something and I know a bruise will probably develop, I put ice on it asap, for about fifteen minutes or so. Then I apply a dab of heating rub like Ben-Gay, Absorbine Jr., or Icy-Hot. It seems to lessen the healing time a bruise normally takes for me. Applying the heating rub also works if you use it when you first see a bruise coming on, but it's better if you catch it as soon as it happens, as the cold pack slows the blood flow to the injury, and the heat rub causes the blood flow to increase, and healing begins.

Alternating cold/heat to injuries is something I use on my horses too, and I've heard some athletes use that as well.

Good luck!

Help Bruises Heal

Don't think there is a way to make them heal faster. It's possible to reduce the intensity of a bruise if you immediately put an ice pack on it as soon as the bump happens. You could carry around those Insta-Ice-Packs and whenever you feel yourself bumped, whip it out, shake it and apply it to the bumped area. Are you on a blood thinner -- that can make you more susceptible to bruising. I guess on fair skin a bruise can be very conspicuous. Perhaps you could put a bandage over it, although that is conspicuous, too, but at least you don't have to explain that nobody beat you!

I have the exact same problem. I know that if i bang myself, even lightly i am looking at several weeks of bruising. As Elizabeth recommended, Arnica gel is a fabulous herbal remedey which you apply topically to injuries. You can also get Arnica tablets which are great at helping with the healing process, but are better taken in advance (i.e. before a house move when you know you will be hitting yourself etc). As a child my mother used to put butter on our scrapes and bangs, and I have also found this to help when accompanied by an ice pack.

When you get a bump, put some ice on the area for a few minutes.

When you already have the bruise....it is good to move the area which will help dissipate the bruise. For instance if you have a bruise on your leg.......go for a walk to get your cicrulation moving.

Also you can get some cover up make up and put it on the bruies if you are self conscious about it.

You might also consider the reason you are getting bruised....do you have poor balance? Do you get dizzy?
There might be a reason why you bruise so often.

There is an herbal remedy that helps prevent bruises (if you know that you've gotten hurt) and heal them faster too! Arnica gel should be at your local health food store. We've used this a lot at our house and it does work! Good luck! :)
