Assuming you've got a CD/DVD writer, it's possible that the driver for it is glitched and that's why it may not write to CD's. You can try this: Right click on "My Computer", click on "Properties", click on the "Hardware" tab, and then on the "Device Manager" bar. Now navigate through the list til you find your CD/DVD drive....right click on it, and choose "Uninstall". Once that's done, exit from there and reboot the computer. Windows should now "see" the drive as "new hardware" and reinstall the correct driver for it. Once that's done, try writing to another CD.
If this doesn't work, chances are the drive is defective and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.

Are you sure you have a combo drive? CD-R+/- drive?

Can you drag files to that drive and see if theres an option to write to cd?
