Go with your heart... when I was in high school, my Dad strongly suggested I get into a business program(which I did)- but before school started after summer break, I switched back to arts& science- after graduating I went to School of Nursing & became an R.N.- I loved it. It really was what I had wanted for years.

It should be your decision. I'm a RN, and I quit after 2 years. The only way I would go back into nursing is when a law gets passed (I think California has one in effect, now) limiting the amount and/or acuity of patient to nurse ratio. It is indeed very hard work, and a noble career for those saints who endure it. It can be rewarding. I think there needs to be more unions to support nurses. I'm still glad I had the experience. There are moments that can make it worth it. Best of luck in whatever you choose.

Well, me being 50 years old and able to use hindsight, I finally figured out that I should have had some decent business training.

What you ought to do is to find out which classes are common to both career paths. Then take some or all of them. They will help you to further your education without locking you into a certain path.

Also, business training is extremely useful in almost any career, especially as you advance into management positions. It's hard to be a high level manager if you don't know how to do your job.

take nursing!! you will never be successful in anything unless you love doing it! Trust me, it took me 6 years to get out of undergrad because I went in pre-pharmacy (what my parents wanted) and changed majors late in my sophomore year and decided to take public relations/ mass comm course (which I love) instead. Be grateful for your parents opinion, but Do what will make you happy! It's your life!

They got to choose their careers. You should get to choose yours. There's nothing wrong with nursing. I've been one for 30 years. It's hard work. You'll earn every penny you make.

Who is paying? I'd say take nursing anyway. Better pay, better job availability.

It is your life, study what you want. They shouldn't push you into a career path that you won't be happy with.
