hmmmm.... interesting, its like anything you just get use to it. Maybe....(I still hate traffic) I live in the Midwest (Missouri) and we get 4 real seasons here. I did live in Calif and Washington State. You will have to dress for it and you will/can enjoy it. I read an article about Barrows Alaska, the most northern point in Alaska and they asked when do the kids go out to play?. Funny answer, they said as long as it wasn't cold out, the kids went out like all kids do. They thought anything colder then -20F was cold... you can freeze to death if you do something stupid, but dress for winter and you will be fine. What state are you going too?

Don't let people scare you with outlandish stories. I live 50 miles from the canadian border and have survived temperatures from 110degrees above zero to minus 50degrees below zero. I have been in blizzards that have produced drifts of snow up to 6 feet tall. Snow is wonderful. The first time you walk out of your house and see the world transformed into a white sparkling world by the first snow fall, you will be dazzled. If you are worried about doing things right, just ask the people in the area you are going to about how to dress in really cold weather. The locals will give you lots of good advise about what to wear and how to keep warm. Relax and have a good time. Learn how to ski, make snowmen and skate.

Just be sure and wear gloves. A lot of people tend to forget how quickly you can get frostbite because they're used to it and dress for it automatically. Oh and waterproof boots are a must too. And stay away from fleece. I took a fleece sweatshirt up snowboarding; the snow stuck to the fleece, melted from my body heat, and then froze when the temp dropped a little. On the plus side I did have a nice suit of body armor.

Most people who see snow for the first time are awe struck.
Yes if you're not careful you can freeze (but mostly if you're stupid) It's a pain in the ars to drive on. But extremely fun to slide on... Spring is here so there won't be much snow around. Just in the western mountains.. There are places here where it does not snow...Nothing to really worry about though...Also fun to do a little rooting in.

They aren't gonna just drop you off the plane into the middle of no-where, are they? You will be fine - people love snow! - Dogs love snow! People play in snow. Yes,it's cold, because, it's snow! It's not hard to drive in, or walk in, for that matter. You will have an absolute blast!

What month are you arriving here, and what state will you be in? If you want some good quality snow and cold weather, you can visit Wisconsin in February. :) It was only 50 below zero (Fahrenheit) this past month.
