Almost everything that E.E. Cummings wrote is about Spring and love and all that crap. Careful though, reading Cummings aloud is tricky. My favorite is "in Just-".

Robert Frost also wrote on the seasons. "Nothing Gold Can Stay" is a fairly conventional one.

Most importantly, practice before the actual reading. Make sure you know when you will be taking breaths and how you will phrase each line.

Lots. But how about Wordsworth's "A Change in the Year" (2 short verses)? Or for a longer one with great alliteration, Laurie Lee's "April Rise" (5 verses)? If you have trouble finding the words let me know.

Personally, I love the link with old traditions in Kipling's "Cuckoo Song", about the old woman letting the cukoo out of the basket at Heathfield's Cuckoo Fair to signify the arrival of Spring, but since that includes the phrase "young and gay" it can be difficult to read aloud in school without generating sniggering......

And the line that comes back to me each year is from Tolkien's "The Road Goes Ever On": "In every wood in every Spring there is a different green".

You know it's spring
when the birds begin to sing,
an' Bees hop from flower to flower,
making honey with all their power.
You can even gather that honey,
to sell and make some pocket money.
Be sure to keep some for your lovely girl
Who's reward may cause your toes to curl.

I don't think you'll go far, wrong, if you choose to read "DAFFODILS", by William Wordsworth! A beautiful piece, indeed, - as long as it is read out, with FEELING!
