I have a 1998 ford econoline van 6 cycl. I was getting error codes from an obd 2 scanner for po161 o2 sensor, po156 o2 sensor, and po305 cylinder 5 missfire. I replaced the spark plugs, wires, ingnition coil pack, and wiring harness to the ignition coil pack. I still have the same codes in the computer. I cant drive the van as I just bought it, so I cant clear the codes with the drive code clear method. How can I get this dang van to pass the emissions testing in st louis mo. I have fail four times and I am really upset.. Thanks

You can turn of the light by disconnecting the battery for 20 or 30 minutes.
BUT——You should know, you haven't yet dealt with the Oxygen Sensor issues.
You have one code that indicates a malfunction in the sensor, and one code that indicates a heater failure in the sensor.
You have at least two, and perhaps as many as four sensors. Identify which sensor is at fault and replace it (them).
Change the fuel filter as well, so that you don't wind up with a code for system too lean.
After you turn the light out, you MUST drive the van for at least 100 miles, under normal conditions, and not all one trip.
The computer must monitor some components that are not computer components (Catalytic converter, fuel cap, EGR valve, etc.) and the only way it can be done is by driving it.
If you don't, and you take it to the test again, if there are more than 2 monitors "not ready" it will fail again. FEDERAL rules.

Happy Motoring

Ironhand is right but don't reset the computer by disconnecting the battery, you can usually go to a shop and have it done with the little reader they use to get the codes.
while if you disconnect the battery the light will go out the computer still records the code and in some states it will make your car a lemon it you do it to much.
When my explore had O2 sensor problems the shop that I go to reset it for free.

Sounds like you need to replace the oxygen sensor (that's what o2 sensor means). You took care of the cylinder misfire already. Just replace the oxygen sensor and you should be golden. (The oxygen sensor is located by the manifold.)

Pep boys can reset it for free. They can also pull codes for you for free. Pull a code and see what the problem is before resetting it.
