Yes, all immigrants to the US are required a fingerprint for security matters. Its been tighter after 9-11 and all fingerprints must be made AT the site of an approved US fingerprinting place.

I've been fingerprinted for various jobs that I've had, most recently as a police officer. I was also fingerprinted in a program that my school offered in case of abduction. I'm not exactly sure how they'd find me using my fingerprints...

Yes, when I was about 4 or 5 my mother had my brother and I fingerprinted for just in case we were kidnapped...

I was arrested for obstructing traffic when I got caught in an intersection making a left turn. Yes, I was taken to the station and booked on that charge and finger printed. As it turned out I was working for Hawthorne Race Track in Chicago and they were investigating cops taking payoffs for illegal parking. They arrested me on that bum charge just to question me. After they questioned me they dropped the charges and released me.
That was the first time I was fingerprinted.

YES. At a correctional institution and at the bank. Some correction facilities actually use a machine to finger print inmates. It's more like a computer. You roll your fingers on a copy thing and your finger print appears on the screen.
