I did a system restore on my computer and all the music I had downloaded to my media player is now gone. Is there any way to get the music back or is it gone for good?

It's gone......

I know on my Mac there is an option to burn a full backup of
music that I purchased from itunes on either dvd or cdrom.
You should have looked for a similar option on your
computer before doing a restore.

Try and do a search with your media player. It will find any music files remaining on your computer. If that doesn't work try and do a system restore on another day, a lot of times I've gotten programs back that way. Good Luck!

As long as you didn't do a format, your music files should still be there. It's normally located under "My Documents/My Music" directory. If you can't find it this way, right click on Start, then Explore, C:/ drive, press control F to find files. If you can remember any of the names of your music just type in one of the names and you'll find out where it's located. You can search for either .mp3 or .wav files.

On the other hand, if you formatted your drive, don't waste your time.. Your files are gone.

I would do a search on the media file extension, if it was a mp3 then I would search for .mp3 in your c:\ drive.

Go to Start --> Search ---> Files/Folders

Then in the "Search for Files or Folder named" text box put in *.mp3 as a wild card search. If their are other extensions than put a coma and then continue on and end it with a ";". Once all done click search. I'm pretty sure it should all be their.

on your media player go to file and open, it should be there, thats why I use 2 media players, one to just store the music.

let me ask you this....did you upload the music onto your ipod? If you did, there is a way to get it off of your ipod and back onto your computer. Email me if you need additional help.
