Need to take the door off to fit our desk into the bedroom. Cant get the bolt out of this old-school door and hinge. I am not a super-handyman guy. Thanks!

Paint should`nt an issue on removing the hinge pins. Your problems may be in the hinges. Possibly at some point in the life of the door the hinges may have been replaced with nonremovable pin hinges. Another possibility is the weight of the door and the way it was installed is binding the pins in the hinges. If you have three sets of hinges, this could be particularly noticeable. As posted previously, your best bet may be to remove the screws from the hinges. I might suggest removing the paint thoroughly from the slots on the screwheads before attempting to remove them. This will prevent stripping out the slots. Also, using a razorknife, score around the perimeter of the hinge plate to prevent the wood from chipping or splintering when the door is removed.

there should be screws in the door frame and the door.Open the door and look at where the hinge is attached and you should see screws if there is then get a screwdriver and remove the screws and be carefully not to drop the door.Undo the bottom hinge first and work your way up.If there is no screws then go to the bolt if its rusted get wd-40 and spray it then get a screwdriver (same size or a little smaller than the bolt) and a hammer.put the screwdiver end against the bolt and take the hammer and tap the handle of the screwdriver to knock it loose and hopefully out of the hinge.Thats the way I do it.Hope it works for you.

Usually the door can be easily removed by punching out the hinge pins. The easiest way to do this is to take a screwdriver and hammer, and knock the pins up, and out. when rehanging the door, put the pins back in from the top, so they can't fall out.

the wd40 miracle spray did the trick. Once I soaked the old hinge, a screwdriver and a hammer knocked it out with a light tap--coming from a woman do-it-yourselfer Thanks!
