Long forgotten - but I know what I did on social and political issues from national to State, and local issues too; and fighting for recognition of environmental issues for more than 50 years; and so on. My grandchildren will carry on that family culture of being engaged and active, and tell their grandchildren, if they have any. Apart from everything, it's enough that I tried - and my most satisfying legacy is all those I have influenced, in my family or outside it; whether I am remembered or not. We are each a stone, thrown in the pond of time - how far may the smallest ripples run? What matters the stone?

Everyone dies, and everyone is forgotten. In some cases the former takes a longer finite time than the latter -- people have begun, but for high school classes -- to forget who Julius Caesar was. No one who knew anyone who knew him, etc, any longer exists.
This is not an argument against efforts to prelong the life of the planet, which possibly may be the only one in the known universe with an evolved semi-intelligent lifeform, which sometime in the far future might develop into something better.
