Rumor has it he was planted by ABC executives. Sanjaya has already been offered a spot in the new Geico Caveman sitcom on ABC. He could possibly use this as a springboard into show business (since he can't sing)

u guys don't know anything! most indians, like sanjaya, are not islamic! it's a religion called hinduism. and he might even be christian, who knows? his mom's white. yes we all know he doesn't deserve it. but what can the poor guy do? a bunch of teens who like his hair and think he's such a sensitive, nice guy, keep voting for him. there's proof of that. remember the girl who started crying yesterday? i don't think india's allowed to vote. and ther and the judges mistakenly gave him the chance to be the american idol. he should never have been on in the first place.

I think It is becuase He is cute. He also sings well.infact I like him and I was gonna vote for him last night but it was bussy ,bussy ,bussy. I have a hard time voting. I wish they give an option to vote in the website. I could have done it.
