This is a pretty new thing for me. I never payed attention to social status, those things never mattered. Recently I've been acting different than normal. I've been worrying about how I look, acting out in class, the typical teenage crap. I want to know though, is this just regular teenagerdom, or is it because I recently found out my dad had cancer? And if this is regular teenagerdom, why start when I am already halfway through it, and how can I stop it since I hate it so much?

You are lashing out. It is normal for anyone who is hurt and feels like they are losing something, which you are. Be patient with yourself, I have buried my father and anytime you loose someone, it is hard. Just give it some time, please I promise you time will heal all wounds!!

It is regular. We all try to fit in during HS. Maybe you are rebelling because your dad has cancer. We all react to things differently. When I found out my dad had cancer I shut out people. You can stop it by being more aware of your actions and stoppingn when you realize it is wrong.

You are realizing what life really is. You most likely have wondered what the meaning of life is, and want an escape from depression. This is fine and normal, and as for your dad I hope he has a fast full recovery.

um it might be teenage hormones but it might also be the news about dad. i don't think it would hurt to talk to a counselor at school and see if that might help. or even outside school counselor. any mental health place. they helped me out a lot when i had teenage problems. i always act different though. so i hope he does well and take care of yourself.
