same as soap, go to michaels or hobby lobby, buy a block of wax, the metal candle molds, scents, colors and additives, and molds for addons, and go to it, be prepared to pay a good hunk to start out.

Buy your wax at a craft store- it usually comes in chip or bead form. Now, depending on how you want to do it, follow the directions:
1. For a taper candle: put a bucket of COLD water next to your hot melted wax. Take a wick (purhcase at the craft store as well.) and dip it into the hot wax, as deep as you want your candle to be tall. Dip it into the cold water. Repeat: wax, water, wax, water, until it's the size you want.
2. for a pillar candle: you need a bowl of ice, a waxy paper cup, a toothpick, tape, and your wick. Place your cup in the bowl of ice, so that it's steady. Pour your melted wax into the cup. now, you'd have to prepare this part ahead of time, but... Wrap a wick around the toothpick a couple of times, then tape it. place the wick in the wax, so that the toothpick is balanced on the rim of the cup, without falling in. let sit untill completely cool and set, remove cup, trim wick.
3. SAND CANDLES- the funnest one of all-
you need a box, like maybe the lid to a computer paper box, and sand, along with your wick. toothpick, and wax. carve out a design in the sand. take your toothpick and dig a little deeper hole to stick your wick, so it's sturdy. pur your wax into it, and let it set. remove your candle from the sand, and trim the wick off the bottom.
have fun!
