The Parrott house is famous throughout the Southern Oregon area. Many, many people have told me it's haunted (but I've never been in it to see if I experienced anything personally). If you want to learn more about it, I would drop over to the Douglas county museum at the fairgrounds or visit their website at http://www.douglascountyhistoricalsociety.org/contact.htm
and have them direct you to more information on the home and Moses Parrott and his family. It is very possible that they have a copy of the information the Rice family collected on the house (see the News Review article mentioned in the previous answer for details).

Additional information:
I did a quick search on Moses Parrott on family search (http://www.familysearch.org ) and found that in 1880, Moses was 56 years old., born in Wales. Three of his sons were shoemakers and he had at least 8 children (which explains the large house!). The children living at home ranged from 23 to 5 years old. Another book indicates that he was also a shoemaker and that the home was built in 1891 (Northwest Victorians By Kenneth Naversen, http://books.google.com/books?id=OxBqJ3X9KFIC&pg=PT38&lpg=PT38&dq=moses+parrott+oregon&source=web&ots=AOjJ1Ei7vR&sig=KHwgVw-u-RmDabC8nxquNoIqRRc#PPT38,M1). Since the house is on the historic register (since 1990), every year they have to publicize when the home will be open to the public for 4 hours. You should be able to go visit it then if you wanted to see it without disturbing the new owners (since 2005). I think they also open it at Christmas for a tour of homes, but I don't know if the new owners participate in this or not.

Good luck - it's a great house. Wonder what it sold for....(guess I could go look that up at the County Assessors office)

Here are a couple of sites that might offer some information:

Good luck. You may not need to enter the ENTIRE address above, but if you do it will show you some good information on the Parrott House
