You know what this is a difficult question to answer but i will have a go. One thing Shia and sunni have lived side by side for years and got on fine' Yes we do have different views but we us Muslims respect all peoples views and differences' After all there is only one GOD '& I am sure that ALLAH knows what is best and one day inshalla we all can live in peace agian .

Very doubtful. As stated, the rift goes back to the 6th. century. A good example of sectarian war is the parallel between the Catholics and Protestants in Ireland. The major difference is in how Islam can take over the world. Islam teaches that anyone who is not Muslim is an "Infidel" and must be converted or be killed. The difference between Shiites and Sunnis is how to accomplish that goal. By the way, be wary of the answers you might get because Islam allows lieing if it advances their faith.
