The life form with the most chromosomes is a bacterium; and plants sometimes have more chromosomes than some animals. Apes and Chimpanzees have more chromosomes than humans, Are the numbers of base pairs and the numbers of genes coded representative of the number of chromosomes? Or are there more nonsensical sequences in the lower life forms?

Does that make our DNA more efficient? I don't care how big or small the chromosomes are, if Aulacantha, a protozoa can have 1600 diploid chromosomes, 37 times the number of chromosomes we have, even if its chromosome was 1/50 the length of ours, I mean it's just one cell. No eyes, ears, complicated digestive system, intelligence, etc
