I have no problem with it, that is how they pronounce "w" in Texas and that is his middle initial and where he lives.

When referring to the President of the United States in the first person proper, his full name should be used out of respect for the office he holds. He is, despite anarchists and other liberals who hate him, the duly elected President.
However, when referring to him in social circles such as blogs like this, nicknames are perfectly okay within the realm of good taste. After all, we had a little fun from 1993-2001 referring to President Clinton as BJ.

He's a public figure and thus open to nicknames. Honestly, its really a matter of opinion, like him or not he is the President, is a horrible argument. since Dubya is really just a reference to his middle initial, so people wouldn't confuse him with President George HW Bush.

We called President Dwight Eisenhower Ike... was that offensive? no!

On Bush's re-election campaign he used "W" so how do you say it? "Dubya" since "Double you" doesn't quite have that same ring to it.

Better than the anti-Christ, or the next Hitler, or any number of other things I have heard, and said. The president only deserves respect if he's earned it, and all he has done is lie his way into a war that has killed too many brave people, including members of my family who truly believed in serving the United States.

I view it as a nickname...In a casual conversation, it's just as suitable as George.

BTW To the person who mentioned the first amendment, the person is asking is it "o.k.", not whether it is legal. Read the question before wasting people's time just for 2 points.

The position of the President must still be respected unless the occupant is already convicted as guilty.

When was it NOT ok for you to refer to him as "Dubya"? Your speech is protected by the First Amendment, what fears do you have?

Like him or not....he is still President of The United States
and he deserves better respect because he is PRESIDENT!

To treat the president or anyone else without due respect is
very childish and proves anyone doing this is a very insecure
person.

Yeah, it's probably one of the nicer names people are calling him these days.
