I've researched the difference between the Civic LX and the Civic EX and the only different between the two that I've uncovered is that the EX has a sunroof, 6-CD Changer, and Rear Disk Brakes - whereas the LX does not offer these commodities. However, is there anything essentially different about the two cars? (I do not understand too much about engines, so I need help) Is there a difference between the engines? fuel consumption? anything different that would affect the car performance?

Thank you so much in advance.
Cheers.

No there is probably nothing different between the two engines other than manual and automatic. Usually a car has the same engine throughout all of the models unless its the sports model like the Si. Everything will most like be the same and the only difference between the two would be the bell and whistles. Hope that helps

ok here we go.,,
my son says, the ex version comes single cam vtec, lx comes single cam non vtec. The ex also comes with rear drums, no disk brakes...only the si comes with rear disks. The horsepower between the lx and ex is only about a 3-5 horsepower difference..so no great concerns there. (that would be for the 96-99 models). the recommendation would be to buy the si..because you get dual cams, rear disk brakes and can get more after market parts if your into tuning and better engine swap capabilities.

I have a 2006 Civic EX and it has the same engine as the LX. Just added features like you said. The EX also comes with Alloy rims which are nice.

No difference in the cars. Only additional options make the difference between the LX and EX. I have an LX and am tickled pink with it.

The motor dude... Way more Horsepower in the EX. If you're gonna get a Civic, definitely get the EX or you'll kick yourself later.
