I am right there with you. He is more than likely teething. When you lay him down he screams because the pressure increases on his already swollen, painful gums. :( Try using something like Baby Orajel on his gums. I have a good trick for applying it... Buy one of the rubber "finger toothbrushes" sold in the infant care section. It usually comes with a tooth/gum cleanser (save that for later). Put a little Orajel on the finger brush and use it to apply and gently massage his gums while you apply it. It works great and the soft "bristles" on the brush hold the Orajel well so that you can get it in all the right places. More than likely it is his bottom tooth that will show up first but you can never be certain. :)

Infant Tylenol drops can work wonders too.

Also, is he on solid foods yet? Do you have one of those "mesh bag feeder" thingy's? They are GREAT for teething. Some moms put ice chips inside it but I like to put cold fruit inside. Put a banana in the refrigerator for an hour or more. Then break off a chunk of it and put it in the mesh bag. Hand that to your little one and as long as he likes bananas - he'll love it! The cold feels sooo good on their gums and it's a tasty, healthy, all-natural cure!

You could also try doing other things cold.... If he's on solids you could refrigerate his fruits/veggies before feeding... he may or may not like it... but it's worth a shot.

Good luck!

And P.S. .......If you feel yourself getting too frustrated with him..... Put him in a safe place....(crib, pack n' play, etc.) and .....WALK AWAY for a few minutes! :) Just a friendly reminder..... Put on some music.....Run the shower........ Call a friend... Step outside for a few deep breaths of fresh air........ And then return calm, cool and collected to your son. He'll thank you for it! :)

Like the others said, it is probably the teeth. Best thing to do is get some Tylenol and some Baby Orajel and hope he will feel better. Teething rings and cold wash cloths help too.

Is he teething? He just might be teething they can start from as early as three months to as late as twelve months old. check that to make sure and he might scream to get you to hold him. This is when they start to read you. teething averages around seven months old..... teething tablets, teething gel, Tylenol can help though teething gel makes them drool a lot and don't last long.

Let him chew on cold things. You can wet a rag, tie it in a knot, and stick it in the freezer. When it hardens, let him chew on it. Also, baby tylenol might help.

a good way to get the ambesol on his gums is a drop on the pacifier, right where he chews
