Well as the others said..cranberry is a good suburb if you want to live north of the city. its one of the fastest growing areas there is. North huntingdon is also one of the fastest growing, but personally I would choose east of the city in monroeville, plum, or murrysville. Murrysville is farthset from the city(but still only 20 minutes or so without traffic) but is the newest, and very nice. They recently finished constuction on parts of route 22 that goes through murrysville, so its new and is very nice. Murrysville is right beside Monroeville, which is great for retail. It has just about every national chain store you could want, except wal-mart. The cloest wal-mart is out in delmont..10 minutes(through some constuction) east on route 22.

Franklin Regional(murrysville school district) is a very, very good school. I believe its ranked very highly in the state.

But i'll give you the best site there is for looking for a house in the area: www.pittsburghmoves.com It has houses listed form just about every realtor there is here(mainly howard hannah, prudential, remax, and northwood). If a house is for sale, it should be on that site.

and on a side note..be sure to say "pop" instead of "soda"...nobody says soda here.

In Pittsburgh, Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, or Brookline. I do not recommend Highland Park, even though it is a beautiful area, it has the most home burglaries in the area. If you're looking suburban, the north and east are most popular. Ross, Wexford, North Hills and Cranberry in the north. Monroeville, North Huntingdon, Edgewood, Plum and Murrysville in the east. Here is an excellent site to compare school districts:

Two major realty companies in our area are Howard Hanna and Northwood. A realtor should be able to help you with all of your questions or you can email me.
Good Luck with your move and I hope you love Pittsburgh!

It depends what you like. There are nice suburbs north (Cranberry, Fox Chapel) and South (Upper St. Clair, Peters township) of the city. If you like the city, I'd suggest Shadyside, Squirrel Hill and parts of Highland Park (East of Highland Ave). City living in Pittsburgh is good. Traffic is manageable, housing is relatively cheap, and the city offers a lot. Trendy areas to live right now include the South Side and Lawrenceville( which is being redeveloped) and Downtown also has more available housing. I like Pittsburgh. I lived there 13 years and my mother and brother still do. Hope that helps.
