The last known time when they came in line was in December of 1997. But it won't happen again for another century or so. You could only see Mercury, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn. You needed binoculars to see Uranus and Neptune. There was a similar alignment in May of 2000, but they were too close to the sun to see them.

Well... Pluto's a dwarf planet. So are you counting the dwarf planets in the 'When will the planets line up?. If you are including them then more than 9 planets. And it probably won't be for a verrrry long time.

They did come in a straight line in May or June of 2000.

If Pluto is considered a dwarf planet, then there could be hundreds. NASA says that they spotted other... planet-ish rocks orbiting the sun too.

it hasn't been stated yet. pluto is now considered a dwarf planet.so 8 planets in the row.
