I'm a female year 10 student looking for a week's work experience. I am open to work anywhere, however am interested in theatre, police/ambulance/fire brigade services or any business related positions. Anything fun and worthwhile would be good too! Thanks!

Well, you should just stop by the local theater/police station/fire station etc. during the day, and talk to the boss or administrator. See if they have anything they'd let you do -- filing, even. I should think there'd be lots of opportunities in the theater -- they always need ushers, ticket-takers, scenery movers, etc.

If they say no, ask them if they have any ideas for you -- this is called networking. If they don't have any ideas, don't take it personally. Thank them for their time, and move onto the next thing on your list.

If you are only working for a week, you might have to do it for free. But, you will be gaining valuable experience, so that's not so bad. Good luck!

Looks like you're seeking for volunteer work experience rather than paid. Volunteering is an easy route to gain work experience in the field(s) of interests. I would suggest you volunteer at a fire department or police station as a clerk or telephone operator just so you can get your foot in there and see what's happening. There are also classes that I've taken when I was in high school, not sure if they still exist, but they are called ROP classes. That ROP program offers a lot, should see if your high school participates in such program. And if you are really interested in gaining work experience while in high school, I urge you to seek more advises from your counselor because they can also help you out.
