uh branded? like something burned into their skin? Branding, the burning of the skin or even tattooing, is marking to show ownership. Once burned the scarring will create a unique pattern that lasts as long as the surface does. So if its on your skin its there for life. same thing with a tattoo, except the tattoo is ink not a raised scar.
But if you mean branded by a social class in say school, it usually sticks with them until they leave that social climate. Being labeled or branded something negative in school can be very damaging to a childs self esteem. Discussion of how the brand came to be and reassurance that its just a title and eventually they will no longer be with those kids is a good place to start.

I assume you are talking about living, acting, a life that could give you either a good name or bad one, reputation wise.
To be branded a trouble maker, one who constantly who stays in trouble, doesn't follow rules gives themselves a bad name from their actions. It will take much needed time to clear your name/reputation. Until it is cleaned up which could take years possibly, then others are going to see you as the troubled one who gets into trouble.
Your reputation is what follows you. However with hard work it can be cleaned up.

It hurts really bad and you get a big permanent mark and it can easily get infected..(it looks nastyy)
