Can you connect the Xbox 360 cotnroller to the Pc using the USB cable and then use the headset for the controller as a microphone outside of games, like for chatting?

Edit: I wanted to see if I could use the 360 one because I already have it, and the only other microphone I have works horribly because it is in the monitor.

Maybe in Windows Vista because that is the only operating system that you are supposed to be able to work an Xbox 360 controller on.
