why do you want something so bad that you don't know much about? Questions to consider are what will you be using this computer for? Gaming, school work, videos, video editing, graphics? How long do you intend for this laptop to last? If you lean towards the higher end usages of a computer (i.e. graphics/gaming/video editing) or you need the laptop to last for 3-4 years you will need to spend a bit more than $600... think $1000. If instead you just plan on using the laptop for like two years to do school work, basic web surfing, and maybe listening to music... this laptop would be fine. http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?pfp=BROWSE&N=200006+4294964967+15&Ne=500000&Ns=display%5Fprice%7C0&product_code=345351&Pn=Aspire_5610_2966_Notebook

You can go to your local Staples or Best Buy etc and see if the still have computers with Windows XP in stock. They're trying to get rid of them and sell them pretty cheap. (little known fact- some of these store may let you get a better discount if you talk to the manager.
