I have a Dell Latitude CPI R-series notebook with a bad hard drive. I'd like to replace it with a bigger drive, but dont know what to order that will fit.

The old hard drive is an IBM 10.5 GB, and says ATA/IDE on it. It has the part numbers 25L2735, and DCXA-10000 on it. The connector on the end is 1.25" in size.

I have a credit with CDWG that I would like to use to order this part, but they list many kind of hard drives, and I dont know which kind will fit in my laptop.

any standard 2.5" hard drive should fit. the connectors are pretty standard in the industry. I would work this problem backwards. How old is your computer system? What operating system did you run? The reason why I ask is that older operating systems only allowed for a hard drive to be up to a certain size. And you may not be able to just install a "newer" operating system, because drivers may not be available to get the rest of your computer to work. So I would go within these guidelines for size. If you were running Windows 98 the largest hard drive that it would support was 20gb, For Windows 98SE 40gb, and for Windows ME i believe it would recognize up to 80-100gb. Windows XP... drive storage was unlimited. (what the operating system is capable of recognizing)

I think the largest hard drive the Latitude C series will take is 60Gb. You can find out for sure by calling Dell and give them your service tag.

It should work with any 2.5 inch ATA/IDE hard drive. Make sure your system has the latest bios on it.
