Culling is the process of selection of surplus animals from an animal population. In a wild population the selection is often done by destroying the animal immediately, in a domesticated situation the culling process involves selection and the selling of surplus stock. The selection may be done to improve breeding stock, for example for improved production of eggs or milk, or simply to control the group's population for the benefit of the environment and other species.

Culling for population control is common in wildlife management, particularly on African game farms. In the case of very large animals, such as elephants, adults are often targeted. Their orphaned young, easily captured and transported, are then relocated. Without proper elephant socialization, young male elephants are believed to become unruly and dangerous to other elephants, wildlife and humans.
......all the best.

culling is to cut out a percentage of a group. For example, in Australia kangaroos are actually pests and farmers are allowed to cull (shoot) a cetain number of kangaroos in order to keep the population under control.

to remove from the herd essentially the same as harvesting of wheat, Culling is often applied to live stock and means to remove from the rest to make use of
i.e. when young heifers are due to be bred using Artificial means they are culled, and corraled and bred, they are then turned out either back with the herd or in their own holding pen. when they come due they are once again culled and allowed to deliver in solitude, to protect the calf
also to be seperated for slaughter as well

I just asked a question about culling birds. I am forwarding the link.
It means to kill. It usually refers to livestock, should never ever refer to humans.
When H5N1 shows up in poultry flocks, they cull them, to avoid contamination of other birds.
