Oklahoma - Texas Neutral field with the intense hatered makes it the best rivalry because you can't say it was a home game excuse.
Ohio State - Michigan Always means something at the end of the year for the conference rivalry.
Army - Navy The respect is always there, but you just can't stand to lose to the other one rivalry.
Alabama - Auburn The you aren't my son if you go to Auburn I raised you to be a Tide fan family disownment rivalry.
USC - UCLA When they wore the colored jerseys when they played, not the whites. Call this one the who has the hottest chearleaders rivalry!

1. Alabama vs. Auburn - Best known as The Iron Bowl has been around since 1893. Alabama leads the series 38-28-1. At one point the rivalry was so vicious that it HAD to be played on a neutral field from 1948-1989. The rivalry was actually suspended for 40 years because the teams couldn't agree on "specifications" for the game. And when former Auburn player Fob James ran for governor, Alabama fans ran TV and newspaper ads asking Bama fans if they really wanted a former Auburn player as governor.

2. Ohio State vs. Michigan - The single biggest Big 10 matchup ever. And more often the not, this game has huge huge huge BCS/Championship implications. In 1973 the game came down to a tie and Big Ten AD's had to vote to see which team went to the Rose Bowl. Ohio State went and the Wolverines stayed home.

3. Miami vs. Florida State - For a long long time this was THE deciding game on who went to the BCS National Championship. Even coined the phrase "wide right" when in 1991, 1992, and 2000 FSU kickers missed winning field goals....by kicking "wide right".

4. Texas vs. Oklahoma - Best known as The Red River Shootout, the biggest rivalry in the midwest. The teams played each other in 1900 before Oklahoma was even a state.

5. Army vs. Navy - You only have to see this game a couple of times to realize just how big it is. Pitting two armed forces academies against each other, the crowd is just as much a show as the game itself. In 1926, the Notre Dame coach, Knute Rockne actually skipped out on his own game to see the Army vs. Navy matchup. That's dedication.

Honorable Mentions:

Florida vs. Georgia - The World's Largest Cocktail Party. These guys can't even agree on when the series started.

Harvard vs. Yale - One of the oldest rivalries in college football. But we all know we watch to see what kind of prank the MIT kids will come up with next.

UCS vs. Notre Dame - Even hotter as of late, but has 19 National Championship and 11 Heisman Winners between them.

In order (IMHO):

Michigan vs Ohio State (almost never a meaningless game)
USC vs Notre Dame (best inter-sectional rivalry)
Army vs Navy (likely the most even rivalry over history)
Texas vs Oklahoma (has to be played in a neutral site!)
Alabama vs Auburn (probably the bitterest of the big rivalries)

Auburn v. Alabama
Army v. Navy
Michigan v. Ohio St
Oregon v. Oregon St
Texas v. Texas A&M

footnote - to everybody who claimed USC v. UCLA. lol ...... please. ive lived in LA for nearly 40 years and been to countless USC v. UCLA games, its a soft rivalry that ranks below Washington v. Washington St, Oregon v. Oregon St, Stanford v. Cal and Arizona v. Arizona St in the Pac as far as intensity goes. heck, even Washington v. Oregon is BY FAR a more intense rivalry and they arent even traditonal rivals or in the same state. you walk through the parking lot at a USC v. UCLA game and you will see COUNTLESS tailgates with both USC an UCLA fans drinking beers together. you will NEVER see Auburn and Alabama fans partying together before or after the game, they hate eachother. USC and UCLA doesnt rank in the top 30 rivalries, let alone the top 5.

Auburn-Alabama (The Iron Bowl)
Georgia-Florida (The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party)
Ohio State-Michigan
Army-Navy
Georgia-Auburn (The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry)

No order to that

This generally depends upon who you ask. In my mind, in no certain order, it would be the following:

Texas-Oklahoma
Michigan-Ohio State
Army-Navy
Florida State-Miami
Harvard-Yale

Yeah, I know Harvard-Yale are a couple of Ivy League schools who couldn't touch any of the other teams, but they are the oldest rivalry. I think that should put them in the group. Army-Navy would be the best in my mind, as there is so much riding on the outcome for the Middies and Cadets.
