When I am writing on a line and if I am not careful to conciously place my writing on the line I wind up writing above about this much above it = (the distance between the lines.) Any ideas?

theoretically, by hand-writing analysis, if u writing on e line itself, it means u r always in quite a neutral/contented state. if u r writting below e line or at e line, it means u r quite depressed now. if somebody writes all over e place, they're highly unsettled with their life, a lot of ups n a lot of downs. if u r writting above e line, it means tat u r constantly quite happy/dreamy, sth along those lines. i cant rem e details, but i rem it can b explained with handwriting analysis. so no worries man. it's all about ur character tat's all

That is odd that you even question yourself. I know that these lines are merely guides, nothing else. There is no rule that says, Always write on the lines of lined paper.
If you look around, or do a random study, most people will do the same, stay within the lines. Some fill the whole space between the lines, some stay close as possible to the bottom, some hover exactly in the middle, and the rare one likes to write on the line itself.

It is a symbolic act, in which the writing (feces smearing) is kept above the line, with the line symbolizing that which feces must not touch.

there is something called Graphology

We know we all have certain character and nature and we are bound to behave in that fashion

As you have line on your palm and hey all say something about you, similarly your hand-righting also say something about you

Remember they all are indicative

You have asked that why do you write above the line

This indicates that

(1) you are feeling alone and isolated
(2) you dont have a habbit of taking help form others
(3) you dont have a habbit of relying on others
(4) you generally dont mingle with people and are not able to understand why dont they support you

If you want to get rid of this start practicing to write on the line
Write one page each day

and see the difference in your life

Magical

Try it !!

Your hand/eye coordination may be off. Your vision may be impaired slightly. It may be habit. Is it worth worrying about? You probably use a printer for most of your written efforts anyway.
