I have had this HP laptop for abt 3 years now and i hadnt noticed the sound till recently. It could be normal, i dont know much abt hardware. If i tip my laptop while my hardrive is working, i hear a sound like if you tilted a cd player while a cd's playing, its almost like its rubbing against the walls of the HD. Is this normal for a laptop HD?

Anytime hard drives start making noises they didnt before you should worry, especially on physical movement.

I would back up your stuff immediately.
then try defragging the drive.. the head may just be jumping around more than normal from fragmented files.
