at least by 12 months old, otherwise the habit is so hard to break!

somewhere between 10 months and 18 months is normal, depending on the child, some are ready to give it up for a cup very early, and some want to cling to it til they are 2. Just try offering one of those soft silicone top sippies at around 10 months and see how they do, if they accept it, offer it more and more often, then go to harder top sippies, then a regular cup. If they put up a big fuss and demand the bottle, don't force the issue. Taking a bottle is fine, in some cultures a baby is nursed for 2 1/2 years. Kids are more well adjusted if not pushed before they are ready.

one of my three baby cusions got taken off of a bottle on her first birthday.. use a baby bottle untill ur baby is old enough to pick up his/her own food. (about 8-9 months.) then get a sippy cup but the kind with the rubber not hard plastic.. then only feed ur baby his/her formula/milk in the bottle and all juices and snack time drinks in the sippy cup soo they will get used to that.. around there first b-day put there milk in the juicsippy cup then buy a hard top sippy cup and give them there juice in there.

You can start weening the off the bottle at 6 months by putting most of their formula or breast milk in a sippy cup, but you don't really need to give it up until 1 year. That is the easiest time to get them to give it up, if you wait too much longer they will get very attached.

You should take the baby off the bottle when they can easily drink from a sippy cup. Usually around one year old is recommended.

I say ten months just take all your bottles throw them out and when they cry give them a sippy cup. Make sure you use the soft mouthed ones so the baby will like the transition. Good luck!

They should be completely weened by 1 year, so try to start introducing a cup by about the 6th or 7th month. Most kids will take to it right away, so don't worry too much.
Also, if you don't get your child totally weened by 12 months, it'll be fine. Just get them weened as soon as possible.
You're not going to stunt your child's growth if he still has a bottle at 13 months.

You need to start using a cup when they stert eating table food, they still need the formula until they are 12 months of age, it provides all of their nutrients that they are not getting from the food they eat.

My pediatrician recommended 12 months as the cut off. He said any longer and they do not need it nutritionally, but are used to having it psychologically.
