I totally think it's a sport! I'm a current competitive cheerleader and I've been doing this stuff since I was 3 or 4. I would love to see half of you people throw someone up in the air the proper cheer way and catch them without dropping them or for something easier let's see you guys do a roundoff backhand spring tuck! It take s a lot of dedication because we have about 4 practices a week around competition season and it takes time out of school and your social life so we are dedicated to make that routine perfect. So you might want to think twice if you think it's not a sport!!!

I am not a big fan of 'regular' cheerleaders, but the competition ones I think deserve the title of "sport" hey, if NASCAR and Bowling are sports than getting thrown in the air, risking a broken neck is DEFIANTLY a sport.

because it's mostly for girls and gay men and men are scared to tell you that you're athletes because they're pigs, but I consider cheering a sport only if you enter competitions like you mentioned... otherwise it's just an activity (it's certainly more of a sport than golf... or curling)

Well, alot of people are still stuck with the "traditional" views of sport.
I think if it takes dedication and work, it's definitely a sport.
It should be more advertised so people can see those that do it. Alot of people simply don't know about it because they haven't heard about it.
