3x (x+5) = 3150 (Area = base x height)
3x*x + 15 x = 3150
3x*x + 15 x - 3150 = 0
3(x*x + 5x - 1050) = 0
3 (x + 35) (X - 30) = 0

3 = 0 no root

x + 35 = 0, x = -35 imaginary root (dimensions can't be negative)

x - 30 = 0, x = 30

so the dimensions are 90 ft by 35 ft

check

90 times 35 = 3150

Area of a square is length * width
so

3x(x+5)=3150

3x^2+15x-3150=0

x= 30 or -35 but a length cannot be negative so x=30

the length is 90 and the width is 35.

Check: 35*90=3150 _!

the formula for area is Length * width. so multiply 3x and x+5 and you will geta 3x^2 + 5x = 3150. use the quadratic equation to solve it or factor it out
