Ear ringing is known as 'tinnitus'. It can be a temporary condition due to factors such as exposure to a very loud sound (gunshot, car backfiring, firecracker, etc) or it can be related to an 'internal' condition, as in my case.

I have had constant 24-7 ringing in my right ear for about 7 years now due to a neurological condition.

You should really get that checked out. It has nothing to do with people talking about you...but people WILL talk about you if you die because you never saw a doctor and just let a serious condition go untreated.

(I am sure that in your case it is nothing serious but you don't want to take that chance, do you???)

Tinnitus is not itself a disease but an unwelcome symptom resulting from a range of underlying causes, including ear infections, foreign objects or wax in the ear, and injury from loud noises. Tinnitus is also a side-effect of some oral medications, and may also result from an abnormally low level of serotonin. I've never heard the myth of good/bad ear ringing. Probably left is bad, because left is the "sinister" side.

well i've never heard of that myth, but i think i've seen something like this on mythbusters on the discovery channel. this person said that they could hear stuff from the radio directly into their ears even though they were no where near a radio station or a radio. so they mythbusters believed that something in their mouth caused it like maybe the material of the filling, crown, etc. so maybe you can watch it and maybe figure it out..sry i didn't finish that episode

There is actually a medical condition (sorry, can't remember the name) that causes a constant ringing in the ear(s).
Seriously, have it checked out.

All of that is false. My ear rings all the time and I have a hearing problem. You may want to see a ENT (ear nose and throught) or your regular doctor.

Yes!!! I have always been told the same thing, but no one believes me! If ur left is ringing, someone is talking badly, and if the right one is, someone is talking good about you

Hope this helps
