The job application might ask for felony convictions. Arrests are not convictions. If either case went to court as a felony, then you should point out that the charges were dropped, dismissed, or whatever, if they appear on your background check.
Just be honest with the interviewer. If your arrests were recent (within the last 5 years), do not explain what happend-rather explain what you learned from your mistakes and tell them what you are doing to avoid being arrested again.

Arrests are not looked at. Being arrested is not a criminal background unless you were by a court of law, convicted of the crime. I've been convicted of 2 DUIs where I went to court and pleaded guilty. Employers can only use it against you if it is a driving job. Most will say that you must has a clean driving record, in that case. In your case, you have nothing to worry about. Also non felonies are not considered.

Most jobs can't hold an arrest against you and if the court process is finished, you should be ok. That's why we have due process, because otherwise, everyone who had ever unfairly been arrested would be harmed irreparably. That being said, it depends on the level of background check, what their requirements are, and how the court process ended.

This will definately show up on your record... If the job does not include driving it may not affect anything. The problem is that many employers shy away from hiring people with dui, theft, drug, solicitation, promotion, o-copp, milk-dudding, 1014's, and milk buttering shows a propensity for inconsistent and irresponsible behavior. I have turned prospective employees away for having all kinds of convictions.

If you weren't convicted of anything, you (in theory) shouldn't have anything to worrry about. They can find the arrest records though so make sure you tell them that you weren't convicted.

I just hid the fact that I had a couple DUI arrests from my employar and luckily they never found out. :) I figured may be it was better to deal with it if it came up, rather than volunteer the info unnecesarily. :) Sherilani Garrett
